On August 21, the Second Hospital of our university held a farewell ceremony for the members of the upcoming 28th Chinese (Shanxi) Medical Team to Kara, Togo. Zhao Bin, Deputy Secretary of the Hospital Party Committee and President of the hospital, and Wei Yonghong, Deputy Secretary of the Hospital Party Committee, attended the ceremony. All members of the medical team, as well as heads of relevant functional departments and clinical departments, were also present.

At the farewell ceremony, Zhao Bin first expressed high respect on behalf of the hospital to the 6 medical team members who would take on the important mission and go to Africa for medical support. He pointed out that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Second Hospital's participation in medical aid work in Africa since it started such efforts in 1975. Over the past half a century, batch after batch of staff from the Second Hospital have successively devoted themselves to medical aid in Africa. With exquisite medical skills and noble medical ethics, they have overcome difficulties and saved lives on the distant African continent, winning high praise from the government and people of the recipient country and bringing honor to the motherland and the hospital. He put forward requirements for all members of the medical team: first, to enhance their political stance; second, to always maintain a strong sense of responsibility and mission; third, to strictly abide by disciplines. Relevant departments and sections should do a good job in the logistics support for the medical team members, promptly help solve practical difficulties and problems of their family members, and ensure that the team members can focus on their work with peace of mind.

Xi Gang, leader of the 28th Chinese (Shanxi) Medical Team to Kara, Togo, and an orthopedic surgeon from the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, spoke on behalf of the team. He stated that all members of the medical team will definitely complete the glorious task entrusted by the Party and the country with the greatest enthusiasm, the strongest drive, and the most down-to-earth work style. They will live up to the trust and expectations of the hospital leaders, set off safely and return with honors!

It is reported that the 28th Chinese (Shanxi) Medical Team to Kara, Togo consists of 6 doctors from the Second Hospital of our university, namely Xi Gang (Orthopedics), Ma Jianfang (General Surgery), Jia Liling (Anesthesiology), Hu Jingjing (Obstetrics and Gynecology), Tian Shujie (Traditional Chinese Medicine), and Yang Xinping (Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine). Among them, Dr. Tian Shujie has been invited by the local government of Togo to provide medical support in Africa for the second time. The medical team will carry out a one-year international medical support work in the Dongdai area of Kara, Togo.
