Recently, the 41st Annual Congress of the European Association of Urology (EAU26) was held in London, UK. As one of the most influential academic conferences in the field of urology worldwide, this congress brought together clinicians, researchers and experts from all over the world. Cao Xiaoming, Director of the Department of Urology, Zhang Bin, Associate Chief Physician, and Shao Yuan, Physician from the First Hospital of our University, attended the meeting with a number of research achievements of the departmental team.

At the conference, Cao Xiaoming, Zhang Bin and Shao Yuan were invited to give oral presentations, and Qin Sufang, Head Nurse of the Urology Ward, presented her research findings in the form of a poster. The contents covered research on prostate cancer, urinary calculi, neurogenic bladder and other fields, fully demonstrating the profound accumulation and international influence of the Department of Urology of the First Hospital in clinical research, technological innovation and basic translation.
Zhang Bin delivered a speech on behalf of the team, with the presentation title "Fluid Dynamics of Gravel Removal in Flexible Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy with FANS". This study deeply explored the hydrodynamic characteristics of stone removal during scope withdrawal in flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy under FANS technology. It is not only the world's first systematic exploration of the core principles and flow field influencing factors of stone removal during scope withdrawal under this technology, but also innovatively discovered the key "water clamp" mechanism in the stone removal flow field, providing important theoretical support and practical technical references for the optimization of surgical procedures and efficiency improvement in minimally invasive treatment of urinary calculi.
Shao Yuan gave two oral presentations on behalf of the team, entitled "Clinical Efficacy of Combining Novel Hormonal Therapy with Docetaxel and Carboplatin in Neuroendocrine Prostate Cancer" and "Artificial Intelligence-Driven Molecular Subtyping for Precision Treatment of Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer" The above two clinical studies were carried out in deep cooperation with the team of Professor Niu Yuanjie from the Second Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, focusing on the precision treatment of neuroendocrine prostate cancer and metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer respectively, providing new ideas for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer and attracting great attention and active discussion from the participating experts.
Qin Sufang presented her research achievement in the field of nursing in the form of a poster: "Development and Validation of the Fourth-Generation Participatory Assessment Tool for Patients with Neurogenic Bladder". This study constructed and validated the fourth-generation participatory assessment tool for patients with neurogenic bladder, promoting the development of functional urology nursing towards standardization, precision and humanization, reflecting the distinctive feature of the collaborative development of medical treatment, nursing and research.
This appearance on the international academic stage of EAU, making the voice of Shanxi heard internationally, is an important achievement of the Department of Urology of the First Hospital adhering to the collaborative development of clinical practice, scientific research and teaching. The medical and nursing team of the Department of Urology will continue to base itself on the forefront of the discipline, deepen academic exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad, continuously make in-depth efforts in the fields of urinary system tumors, urinary calculi, functional urology, etc., constantly promote technological innovation and the transformation of research achievements, and provide patients with higher-level, more precise and higher-quality diagnosis and treatment services.
