On April 15, the 4th Basic & Clinical Integration and Innovation Exchange Meeting of our university was held at the Lecture Hall of Yifu Building, Zhongdu Campus. The meeting was co-hosted by the School of Basic Medicine, the Hospital Management Department, the Science and Technology Department, and the Key Laboratory of Pneumoconiosis of the National Health Commission. Lu Li, Dean of the School of Basic Medicine, presided over the meeting, Qian Xianzhong, Minister of the Hospital Management Department, delivered a welcome speech, and teachers and student representatives from basic and clinical fields of the university attended the exchange.

A number of experts and scholars from inside and outside the province were specially invited to share cutting-edge academic insights. Professor Gao Xiang from Sichuan University delivered a report entitled Basic Research on the Application of Non-viral Vectors in Tumor Therapy, systematically elaborating the innovative research achievements and transformation prospects of non-viral vectors in the field of tumor therapy. Professor Yintao Li from Shandong First Medical University shared the core methods and practical experience of scientific research topic selection and scientific problem refinement in On Refining Scientific Problems, providing important inspiration for the scientific research work of the teachers and students present.

After the report session, a special seminar was held at 4 p.m. in the Lecture Hall of Mingbian Building. Director Zhang Hongguang from the First Affiliated Hospital of our university, Directors Yang Xihua, Feng Fuqiang and Cui Yanfen from the Provincial Cancer Hospital, Professor Zhang Chengwu and Associate Professor Zhu Jianjun from the School of Basic Medicine of our university participated in the discussion and exchange. They discussed the precise connection between basic research and clinical needs, the transformation path of scientific research achievements, the training of young scientific research talents, and interdisciplinary integration. Combining their own clinical and scientific research practices, the experts put forward a number of operable cooperation suggestions, actively offering advice and suggestions for the coordinated development of medicine, education and research and the high-quality construction of medical disciplines of the university.

The "Basic & Clinical Integration and Innovation Exchange Meeting" is an important platform for the university to break down barriers between basic research and clinical application and promote the transformation of scientific research achievements. The holding of this session not only continues the concept of "Promoting Innovation through Integration and Integration through Innovation", but also achieves new improvements in the depth of exchange, breadth of topics and diversification of participants. It further strengthens the linkage and collaboration between basic medicine and clinical medicine disciplines of our university, stimulates teachers’ and students’ scientific research and innovation vitality, and injects new impetus into the transformation of medical scientific research achievements, discipline construction and talent training of the university.
