On February 15th, the last day of Chinese Lunar calendar, “Eastern Wind—Series International Students Activities of SXMU” was co-organized by the Division of Student Affairs and the Division of International Cooperation and Exchanges. “To Celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year” is the first culture activity for international students of SXMU. President Li Sijin, on behalf of the university, joins the activity and delivers a speech to extend Spring Festival greetings to all international students. Vice-President Wang Hongwei, relevant departments leaders and more than 60 international students gathered together to celebrate the ongoing Spring Festival.

In his speech, President Li Sijin said that it was very happy to spent the 2018 Spring Festival together with students from different countries who has different background but  the same title ”Shanyi ren”. After briefly reviewing the major progress made in the internationalization of SXMU in 2017, he proposed that in 2018, we should continue to carry forward the SXMU Spirit and establish a good international medical education brand for our university. He hopes that international students could stick to their new year’s resolution. They had chosen SXMU, it is hoped that they will love SXMU, be proud of SXMU, and honor SXMU in the future. "Every form of beauty has its uniqueness, Precious is to appreciate other forms of beauty with openness, beauty represents itself with diversity and integrity". All the Chinese and foreign teachers and students should worked together to fulfill the SXMU Dream and to build a better SXMU.

This was the first Chinese Spring Festival that our international students spent in China. They were very excited and prepared different performance with national characteristics, including Chinese songs "Congratulations", English song "My hometown" and African dances. The Chinese students from different schools brought Guzheng performance, sang folk song and performed folk dance.

"Eastern wind" -- The series of international student activities of SXMU will be held in next term. It aims to demonstrate cultural self-confidence and ethnic self-confidence through various activities with Chinese cultural characteristics; strengthen Chinese and foreign students’ mutual understanding, cultivate students’ awareness of international understanding of openness, tolerance, respect, and equality, and constantly cultivate the awareness and ability of cross-cultural communication among students. Make contribution for developing a more open and international campus.
