On September 6, the one-year countdown to the 100th anniversary ceremony and mobilization meeting of the construction of high-level research and teaching medical university was held on new campus, to solemnly welcome the centennial celebration, start a new journey of building a distinctive high-level research and teaching medical university. More than 400 teachers，students and alumni representatives attended the conference. The conference was hosted by Vice-President Wang Hongwei.

The conference began with the solemn national anthem. With the passionate and powerful song, the Announcement of the Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Shanxi Medical University was officially released. SXMU sincerely invites all the alumni, hoping they would gather here next year to share the achievements of past 100 years and draw blueprints for future development. Then, a hundred-year celebration video was broadcasted to present the historical process of this century-old university’s vicissitudes, show the persistence of dedication and enthusiasm and convey the positive attitude towards the new journey. In the video, there are blessing from the alumni across the country to express their blessings and expectations to their alma mater. Subsequently, the school leaders, the leaders of the First Hospital of SXMU, the Second Hospital of SXMU and Fenyang College and the alumni representatives jointly launched the one-year countdown to the 100th anniversary, which marked the official opening of the centennial celebration’s series activities of Shanxi Medical University. Our University would take this as an opportunity to unite a wider range of strengths and make great strides in the 100-year node. More than 800 alumni from Beijing donated a new landscape rockery to the university. Deputy Secretary He Peifeng issued a donation certificate to the Beijing Alumni Association.
Secretary Zhang Junlong delivered an important speech. On behalf of the School Party Committee, and President Li Sijin, who was studying in Beijing, Zhang Junlong expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the old leaders, senior comrades, alumni and all those who care about and support the development of SXMU, gave a sincere greeting to the faculty and staff who dedicated themselves to the the education and medical care and extended the best wishes to all the students. He reviewed the history of our university and said that in the past 100 years, Shanxi Medical University has achieved rapid development. The 100-year history represented the history of the university’s struggle and development.
Zhang Junlong emphasized that during the 100 years’ development, our schooling capability, faculty and condition have been improved consistently. Our “Circle of Friends” has been enlarged continuously. The 100-year history of development once again showed that only by upholding the leadership of the Communist Party of China, adhering to the correct school running orientation, sticking to the people-oriented concept, following the laws of education and teaching, and constantly advancing reform and innovation could our university gain a strong driving force of development and continue to cultivate outstanding talents with both political integrity and professional competence.
This conference was not only a celebration, but also a re-deployment and re-mobilization of the goal of constructing a high-level research and teaching medical university. Focusing on the realization of this goal and the development strategy of "two hundred", Zhang Junlong profoundly expounded three key issues: "What kind of Shanxi Medical University should be built", "How to construct a high-level research and teaching medical university with distinctive characteristics" and "Organizational safeguard measures for building a high-level research and teaching medical university”.
