Let’s start with what the Cansino vaccine is. The vaccine is named Recombinant Novel Coronavirus Vaccine Adenovirus Type 5 Vector (Ad5-nCoV) and has been developed by CanSinoBio and Beijing Institute of Biotechnology China. Multiple hospitals are collaborating with the National Institute of Health Pakistan and CanSino Biologics, Inc. China for these trials along with four other centers in Pakistan. Pakistan is among 7 countries that will carry out the Phase III trial in compliance with National and International Ethical& Regulatory Guidelines.

After finding about the conduction of the trials I felt exhilarated knowing that I had the chance to participate in these trials and as a medical student the excitement level was extremely high. I didsome research on my own about the vaccine to find out about what methodologies were involved and how this vaccine would have potential of being a great success in the time to come. Apart from that, being a medical student from China the strongest feeling that surfaced was hope and love having had first-hand experience studying in china I knew that if my own encounter had been extremely wonderful and the technologies provided to us in campus were extremely amazing and top notch I knew that the technology and minds involved in making the cansino vaccine would be up to level. Apart from that, ever since I came back to Pakistan I didn’t get much chance to participate in activities being conducted at Shanxi medical university so after realizing that these trials would give base to giving me a chance to participate and show my support for China I just couldn’t let this opportunity go, not when China is like a second home to me.

On the 15th of December I went to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) in Lahore to get the dose. The doctors thoroughly explained what the vaccine was and the possibility of half the participants receiving a placebo while the other half would receive the vaccine. Previous participants didn’t show any major symptoms after receiving the dose. The symptoms that surfaced were; people feeling slightly feverish and some pain around the area where the dose was injected. The vaccine itself has shown good results up till now and is a very promising candidate developed by China. There’s only one dose for this vaccine and when the vaccine will be made available to the public, the placebo recipients of the trials will be called in to receive the actual vaccine dose. Personally speaking I didn’t get any fever but I did have a mild pain around the area where I was injected which was bearable. Currently, many people are heading over to the centers and enrolling themselves as participants in the cansino vaccine phase 3 trials with much enthusiasm and hope that this vaccine will bring much benefit along the lines of self-defense against the coronavirus I would strongly recommend that students residing in Pakistan who haven’t taken part yet should head over to get vaccinated and show their support!

The epidemic truly changed all of our lives and I sincerely hope that we go back to our normal lives soon and all of us stand united against this virus doing the most we can on our behalf, taking every precaution to keep ourselves safe and healthy even if that can be attained simply by staying at home. The human race needs to be smart about this and stand strong. The precious lives we have lost during all of this, we owe it to them and to ourselves to combat this together.” 们必须站在一起!”
