Recently, a new online self-service inpatient service system was launched in First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University. The service model was carried out in our provincefor the first time, which is a major measure to improve the medical experience of patients.

What is the most annoying thingfora patients’hospitalization? There were a lot of people in the queues and the long distances in different links. So, is there a way to get patients and their families to walk less and handle admission faster and more conveniently? To solve the problem, the Inpatient Department of First Hospital launched the "Online Self-Service Inpatient System" in the beginning of 2022, which aims to improve the patient experience with a patient-centered approach. Now the patients can easily complete the admission procedures on the self-service machine through three steps: information entry, deposit payment and wristband printing.

With the self-service system, the admission formalities can be completed in about 2 minutes. The upgraded self-service admission model has been recognized by patients and their families. It embodies the concept of intelligent service, optimizes the inpatient service process, shortens the admission processing time, reduces the return journey of patients and their families, provides more efficient admission services, and improves the operational efficiency of the hospital.
