On the 112th International Nurses Day, the International Committee of the Red Cross announced the recipients of the 49th Florence Nightingale Medal in 2023.Thirty-seven outstanding nurses from 22 countriesreceived the award, including seven from China. Zhang Yinghui, Deputy Director of Nursing Department of the Second Hospital of our university, was listed among them.

Zhang Yinghui is currently the Chief Nurse of the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, and the master 's supervisor of our school. In 2022, she attended the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. At present, She is a member of several committees, including the Internal Medicine Committee of Chinese Nursing Association, the Chinese Hospital Association Nursing Specialized Committee, and the 9th Council of the Shanxi Nursing Association. She is also the Director of Internal Medicine Committee of Shanxi Nursing Association and the critical care specialist nurse of the Chinese Nursing Association.
Zhang Yinghui is full of the spirit dedication and devotes herself silently. It is her normal work to be on call 24 a day for rescuing patients. She came out boldly at the critical moment, fought on the front line of the epidemic, and protected the health of the people. In 2003, when SARS was rampant, she was the first nurse in the department and the first in the hospital to enter the SARS ward. In 2020, she took the initiative to fight against the new coronavirus in Wuhan, where the epidemic was the most serious. She has been engaged in clinical nursing for more than 30 years. She has edited and co-edited three books, published more than 20 national and provincial papers, presided one Provincial Key Research and Development Project in Shanxi, and has won honorary titles such as National Excellent Communist Party Member and National Advanced Individual in Fighting Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia.
Zhang Yinghui defends life with life, fulfills heroath with action, and interprets the mission and responsibility of the angel in white in the new era with practical actions, full of loyalty tothe Communist Party of Chinaand love for nursing profession.
The Florence Nightingale Medalis awarded to nurses who have exceptional courage and devotion to victims of armed conflict or natural disaster. It also recognizes exemplary service or a pioneering spirit in the areas of public health or nursing education.Candidates for the Nightingale Award require long-term engagement in nursing work or nursing volunteer service, with noble ideological and moral literacy and superb nursing professional level, showing extraordinary courage and dedication in emergency rescue or special disease nursing work in major emergencies.Since China participated in the 29th Nightingale Award in 1983, 90 excellent nursing workers have won this award.
