On the celebration of National Science and Technology Workers' Day and the National Innovation Award Recognition Conference were held at the National Science and Technology Communication Center.Professor Wang Jianwei,who is the alumnus of the Public Health Department, the leader of the expert working group in the field of virology, and the associate dean at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital, won the third National Innovation Award.

Wang Jianwei enrolled in Preventive Medicine major of the Public Health School of Shanxi Medical University in 1987. Over the years, Wang Jianwei has been mainly engaged in research on pathogenic mechanisms and prevention of important respiratory virus infections. He has been granted by many talent programs such as National Science Funding for Distinguished Young Scholars, Yangtze River Scholars of the Ministry of Education, and the first batch of scientific and technological innovation leaders of the National "Top Ten Thousand Scholars Plan". He was electedasa member of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences at the end of 2022. As an outstanding alumnus of Shanxi Medical University, Wang Jianwei has been caring and supporting the development of his alma mater for many years. He also put forwardlots ofpertinent suggestions for the construction of our university.

The winning of the third National Innovation Awardis alsoan honor for our school, and will encourage the students and alumni at home and abroad to continue to forge ahead and make greater achievements.
