The 13th Chinese Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Members’ Congress and National Academic Conference was held in Hefei, Anhui Province, sponsored by the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. At the meeting, Professor Xie Jun, the President of our school and the chairman of the ninth council of Shanxi Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, was elected as the vice-chairman of the thirteenth council of the national. which achieved a breakthrough in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology in our province in the national society.

The Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (CSBMB) was established in 1979. Its purpose is to carry out academic exchanges at home and abroad, popularize scientific and technological knowledge, promote the application of scientific and technological achievements, carry out non-governmental international scientific and technological cooperation, and assist national and local relevant departments in formulating development plans, editing and publishing journals in related disciplines.

The CSBMB has more than 20,000 members. The Society consists of 18 professional branches, including industrial branch, agricultural branch, basic medical branch, traditional Chinese medicine branch, marine branch, clinical medical branch, protein branch, proteomics branch, lipid and lipoprotein branch, enzymology branch, carbohydrate complex branch, ribonucleic acid (RNA) branch, gene branch, molecular system biology branch, biotechnology branch, education branch, metabolism branch and science and technology information branch. The branch regularly organizes academic exchanges and renews every 4 years.
