On April 19, ahead of the 30th World Book and Copyright Day (April 23), international students from our university were invited by the Jinzhong Government to attend the opening ceremony of the 2025 Public Library Service Promotion Week at Jinzhong City Library, embarking on a culturally immersive reading journey.

Co-hosted by the Jinzhong Foreign Affairs Office and Jinzhong City Library, the event aimed to foster a culture of reading nationwide and facilitate knowledge exchange. The students enthusiastically engaged in various activities, showcasing their keen interest in Chinese culture. Aly, a Sudanese student, remarked, “I am thrilled to participate in this event, which deepened my appreciation for Chinese culture and the joy of reading. Here, I explored fascinating books and exchanged insights with people from diverse backgrounds—a truly enriching experience.”

Following the ceremony, the students toured the 6th “Fengming” Reading Festival Book Exhibition at the library. They lingered at thematic displays, discussing content with peers and staff, while also experiencing the seamless integration of technology and literature through real-time online promotions of the event.

This initiative not only provided a platform for international students to explore Chinese culture and literary delights but also bridged cultural divides through shared learning. By leveraging reading as a universal medium, participants collectively disseminated knowledge and wisdom, furthering the city’s commitment to promoting public literacy and cross-cultural dialogue.
