On May 13th, Zhang Di, Vice Dean of the School of International Education of our university, and teacher Wan Heda visited the First Clinical Medical Hospital and the Second Clinical Medical Hospital to carry out special exchange symposiums on the clinical training of international students. Liu Xia, Deputy Director of the Teaching Department of the First Clinical Medical Hospital, Zhang Nana and Zhang Xuefeng, Deputy Directors of the Academic Affairs Office, Guo Jinli, Director of the Teaching Department of the Second Clinical Medical Hospital, and advanced teacher representatives of international student education participated in the symposium, exchanging views on the whole process of training international students in clinical medicine.

The symposium focused on core aspects such as optimization of training programs, practical teaching for clinical clerkships, management of internship supervision, and implementation of graduation assessments. Aiming at the characteristics of cross-cultural education for international students, discussions were held on topics including the precise alignment of curriculum systems with clinical practices and the standardized construction of teaching norms. Both parties further clarified the start time of internships, hospital allocation mechanisms, and intensive clinical skills training programs for graduating students. Meanwhile, they promoted the full-cycle preparation of teaching evaluation materials to ensure the orderly connection and efficient implementation of training tasks from curriculum design to assessment and evaluation.
The symposium specially invited Yang Hailan and Zhao Wenbo, winners of the 2025 "Advanced Individual in International Student Education," to share their teaching experience. Based on years of master's supervision practice, the two teachers exchanged views on dimensions such as cross-cultural communication skills, stratified cultivation of clinical thinking, and guidance of research capabilities. They highly recognized the spirit of active inquiry and enthusiasm for practical innovation demonstrated by international students in clinical learning and proposed innovative models such as "case-based situational teaching" and "bilingual standardized patient (SP) simulation," providing practical examples for optimizing clinical teaching methods.
The university has always adhered to the philosophy of "open education and collaborative education" to build an international talent training system with clinical medicine as its characteristic. At present, the "Study at Shanxi Medical University" brand has trained a total of 260 international graduates at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, laying a solid foundation for cultivating medical talents with both international vision and clinical competence.
