山西医科大学外语系简介
山西医科大学外语系成立于2009年，前身是外语教学部。目前有4个教研室，教职员工58名，专任教师54名，其中教授1名，副教授10名；拥有硕士学位的教师45人，具有博士学位的教师1人。承担着全校本科、研究生、成人教育等多层次、多专业的公共英语教学，以及英语专业（医学方向）的外语教学，并开设有法语、日语及俄语。2004年开始招收英语专业（医学方向）本科生，迄今共毕业学生550余人。在教学上，外语系教师积极探讨多元的教学方法。例如，在听力教学中采取“多模态”教学策略，在口语教学中实施课上课下一体化教学，在阅读教学中实施“以活动为主线”“以学习为中心”的大学英语精读教学模式。
近年来，外语系共承担校级及以上科研项目36项，发表省级以上论文45篇，参编教材4部，主编论著4部。在教学比赛中，获得山西省高校青年教师教学基本功竞赛一等奖1人，二等奖1人，三等奖4人；“外教社杯”全国高校外语教学大赛三等奖1人；“外教社杯”全国高校外语教学大赛山西赛区特等奖1人，一等奖1人，二等奖1人，三等奖3人。
外语系作为学校语言教育的承载基地，承担了山西省卫计委出国人员法语培训、在校学生赴日前的日语培训、学校及附属医院大型国际交流会议翻译等多方面的工作，为山西省医学外语人才的培养及学校的国际化发展做出突出贡献。
随着现代社会的不断发展，外语系将继续以崭新的姿态不断创新，勇于探索，努力为山西地方经济建设和社会发展作出新的贡献。
The Department of Foreign Languages of Shanxi Medical University was founded in 2009. Its predecessor was the Section of Foreign Language Teaching. At present, there are 58 staff members in the Department, including 54 full-time teachers, among which are 1 professors and 10 associate professors. 45teachers have the master’s degree and 1 teacher has the doctor’s degree.
The Department provides courses for undergraduates, graduates and adults of various levels and majors. Besides, it cultivates English majors (Medical English) and opens up several courses of second foreign language, including French, Japanese and Russian. In 2004, the Department started to recruit undergraduates of English major (Medical English) and since then over 550 students have completed their studies here.
Teachers spare no effort to explore new teaching methods. In listening courses, teachers adopt the "multi-mode" strategy; in spoken lessons, in-class training and after-class practices are integrated; and in reading classes, teachers combines "exercises and activities" with "the central task of learning", making the courses enlightening as well as entertaining.
In recent years, the Department has undertaken 36 research projects sponsored by the university, province and other organizations. Its teaching staff has compiled 45 theses, 4 textbooks and 4 treatises. In the Shanxi Teaching Contest of Young Teachers, 1 teacher got the first prize, 1got the second prize and 4 got the third prize; and in the National Foreign Language Teaching Contest held by the Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, 1 teacher got the third prize of the national level, and 6 teachers got the prizes of the provincial level, including 1 grand prize, 1 first prize, 1 second prize and 3 third prize.
The Department has trained numerous talents of foreign languages and made great contributions to the internationalization of the University and Shangxi Province at large. As the cultivator of foreign languages, the Department provides French courses for personnel dispatched by the Health and Family Planning Commission of Shanxi Province who are going abroad and Japanese courses for students who are going to Japan for further education. Besides, the Department provides translation and interpretation services for many international conferences held by the University or its affiliated hospitals.
Keeping abreast of the times, the Department of Foreign Languages will innovate ceaselessly and explore new ways to contribute to the economic and social development of Shanxi Province.
